Who is JC Das?
Early Beginnings
JC Das grew up in Los Angeles, CA, but frequent trips to India shaped his worldview. Wandering through ancient temples and sacred lands filled him with awe, while witnessing poverty left a lasting impact. These experiences sparked deep questions about life’s meaning and purpose. A restless creative, he struggled in traditional school, which felt stifling—like “DESK” stood for “Discouraging Every Single Kid.” This tension set him on a lifelong journey to seek understanding beyond the ordinary.
The Music Industry
JC entered music school and quickly excelled, honing his craft and developing a unique blend of hip-hop and Indian beats. His talent earned placements with major artists and even led him to tour with KRS ONE, where a spiritual awakening revealed the power of sound to uplift the planet. Inspired by this realization, he shifted his focus to becoming a music caregiver for children with autism, combining music with meditative sounds to bring healing. Around this time, he began practicing yoga and breathing techniques, which introduced him to the profound teachings of ancient Indian philosophy.
Life as a Monk
JC began visiting a temple daily at 4:30 a.m., impressing the head monk, who guided him to the next phase of life at an ashram in Los Angeles. There, he practiced Bhakti-yoga in the Vaishnava tradition, studying the Bhagavad Gita, performing service, and sharing its teachings. His journey led him to India, where he lived among thousands of monks in West Bengal and received initiation as Jaya Chaitanya Das. Returning to North America, he became the leading distributor of Vedic books, sharing over 250,000 copies in four years while offering global seminars. As an Interfaith Chaplain at USC, he conducted mindfulness workshops and built community among students. Witnessing the rising use of antidepressants among youth, he felt called to dedicate his efforts to helping children.
Good Luck Yogi
JC dreamed of a superhero not from outer space but inner space. Turning this vision into reality, he sketched designs and collaborated with local toy studios to create a prototype. Partnering with co-founder Anchal Chand, they secured initial funding and refined their ideas. Presenting the concept at elementary schools brought overwhelming support from children, inspiring him to write a children’s book and onboard additional investors. This led to the launch of a mobile app, podcast, and other services. With Good Luck Yogi, JC is dedicated to raising a generation of calm, confident, and compassionate kids.
What’s Next…
JC envisions returning to music as Heaven X, creating Lofi hip-hop beats, conscious lyrics, and soulful collaborations. He plans to write books on successful habits, insightful realizations, and clever wordplay. Good Luck Yogi is set to expand into retail stores, becoming a global wellness brand for kids and families. Through upcoming public speaking engagements, podcasts, school visits, and conferences, he aims to inspire and connect with audiences worldwide. Committed to uplifting others, he intends to develop businesses rooted in goodness and launch the Dharma Earth Foundation to bring the timeless teachings of Ancient India to a modern audience.
